DOW MDA SHIELD

The Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) contract is a Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) vehicle established by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to support the rapid acquisition of mission-critical capabilities across MDA and other Department of War (DOW) organizations. SHIELD provides a flexible enterprise contracting vehicle that enables federal customers to quickly compete and award orders across a broad range of technical, engineering, research, development, advisory, and mission support requirements. SHIELD is designed to accelerate the delivery of innovative capabilities to the warfighter while leveraging modern acquisition approaches, digital engineering, open architectures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, model-based systems engineering, and agile development processes.

SHIELD allows MDA and other DOW entities to rapidly compete orders under one enterprise contract vehicle, reducing procurement timelines and increasing access to qualified industry partners. The vehicle supports the full lifecycle of acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, testing, and operational support activities necessary to advance homeland and missile defense missions. Work may be performed throughout the United States and in support of global defense operations.
